It's like abuela joined Crossfit, started Keto (or whatever fad diet is hip these days), and put a healthy spin on favorite latin classics while keeping them tasty and flavorful.The book itself is awsome! The pages seem to be high quality, that can last in the kitchen (already spilled cafe cubano on a page, and it wiped right off without leaving a stain, nor warping the page). The pages also contain nutritional values (if you're into that sort of thing). Also, the book is bilingual...with the pages in english, then in spanish on the next page. The book also contains such chapters as appetizers, soups, vegetarian dishes, chicken and turkey, meats, seafood, sides, sauces and condimentsFor the recipes themselves, Ingrid appears to have taken favorites from most of the latin countries! Cuba, Columbia, Mexico (Yucatan!!!), Dominican, Chile, Peru, Argentina, and Puerto Rico.So far, I have made vaca frita (personal favorite, and it tastes just like how I used to get it in Miami.... also use the leftover beef stock to make your arroz con frijoles negro), pastelon (kids loved it!), pollo frito al homo, and arroz con pollo.This book does not disappoint! Stop wasting your time with those "all recipes" (more like all bland recipes), or those dozen tomatoes (do they even taste their recipes before publishing them?).
This is my third cookbook from Chef Ingrid Hoffmann and I couldn't be more pleased. I'm not diabetic but do choose to cook a low sugar diet for my family at home and this book KNOCKS IT OUT OF THE PARK! The Chica tip's are helpful and love the recipe alternative suggestions on the bottom of each page. Can't wait to cook with mom when she visit's as the recipes are both in English and Spanish!

Also, the book is in English and Spanish for multi-lingual households. The price is very reasonable - great gift for Latin food lovers, especially if they're watching their health. Brava!
